Connections

  1. ⟴ Stoic Mercenary: Jasparl has worked many mercenary jobs of all types. He's made a substantial number of enemies and few close friends. If your character deals in blood and coin, they might know of each other.

  2. ⟴ Reluctant Adventurer: Jasparl accompanies Huxing frequently, often combining work on the side with whatever Huxing is dragging him around to complete. He adopts more of a "not my job, not my problem" for most of this, letting him actually relax for once.

  2. His biological older sister. The two of them escaped from their homeland when the Garlean influence became far too dangerous. They also disagree on how to Eorzean-ize their last name, resulting in two very different approaches.

  3. While Jasparl became a mercenary, Jinaera became a successful adventurer, but ended up retiring early. During her travels, she met Huxing and the two of them formed a close bond, with her eventually adopting him as her "second, better brother."

  4. At that time, Jasparl was coworkers with Huxing and neither knew about the other's connection with Jinaera nor their new familial status.
  2. Despite the sudden, surprise appearance of a new adopted sibling of a completely different Au ra subspecies, Jasparl and Huxing took up their new fraternal connection with ease. Neither of them have ever had a brother before, so they sort of just ended up beating the shit out of each other and cooking mediocre food on the road.

  3. Even with their volatile natures in different directions, they do a good job at keeping each other in check, with Jasparl staying laser focused on a task and Huxing bringing more passion (and importantly empathy) to situations.

  2. Maeval is the healer and additional member to their team. He respects her professionalism and efficacy on the job, although her constant roundabout and backhanded way of speaking is more exhausting than insulting in his opinion.

  3. He thinks that she gets paid an absurd amount of money, although after she's helped out financially several times, he doesn't have much of a leg to stand on. He's certain that her bleeding heart will get her killed someday, no matter how well she covers it with a cold exterior. But that's not his problem.

  3. Jasparl drastically altered Kirin's life when he took a job that involved killing Kirin's employer (and the rest of the employer's guard). It was through pure, dumb luck that Kirin survived. Jasparl just barely has recollection of who they are. It was just another job.

Jasparl tends to be the brute, efficient firepower for the job. And for most people? That's all that he needs to be. He's a workaholic, often stacking multiple tasks at once and refuses breaks. It's less about the money and more about accomplishment in a way.

It's often hidden behind the menial tasks that he does, but he's obsessed with power. He feels if he gathers enough, then he truly can just live life peacefully without others shoving their way in, Garlean or no. He hasn't explicitly told his siblings, but they can tell something's up. He continues to take on more and more dangerous and challenging tasks to reach this impossible goal.

When they were young, he and his sister Jinaera (they ended up disagreeing about splitting the last name) escaped Garlean rule in their home country. They worked odd jobs all of the way to Gridania, where they both independently met Huxing. Jinaera adopted him as a new sibling and Jasparl got the shock of coworker turned family. He and Huxing do most of the adventuring, although they disagree on whether it's being an Adventurer or Mercenary.
